SAINT LAURENT Rive Gauche

An icon of 1970s style, this vintage SAINT LAURENT Rive Gauche cape perfectly captures the elegance and modernity of the Parisian fashion house at the time. The cape made its appearance in the early 1970s in Yves Saint Laurent’s haute couture collections, echoing traditional Moroccan capes, and became the standout piece of the 1976 - 1977 “Russian Ballet Opera” show - a tribute to Léon Bakst’s costumes for Sergei Diaghilev.

Crafted from deep brown wool, the cape features a loose, flowing silhouette. It fastens at the neckline with a braided cord adorned with decorative knots, while a tassel in passementerie embellishes the back of the hood with subtle refinement.
